Main measures of the future Spanish Housing Rights Act
On 14 April 2023, the Spanish Government reached an agreement with the political groups ERC and Bildu (the "Agreement") to unblock the parliamentary procedure and to approve before the regional elections of 28 May 2023 the Spanish Housing Rights Act (the "Housing Act"). The preliminary draft of the Housing Act was approved on 1 February 2022 by the Council of Ministers (we analysed its main measures in a previous newsletter), although the final text that the Government intends to approve has undergone significant changes as a result of the above-mentioned Agreement between the different political parties, mainly aimed at controlling and limiting housing rental prices.
In this newsletter we summarize the main measures contemplated in the Housing Act and highlight in bold type the main changes to the preliminary draft of the law that have been recently included as a result of the Agreement.
