He has been a Government Lawyer (Abogado del Estado) since 1992 (currently on leave) and has held numerous positions of responsibility:
- Chief Government Lawyer at the Regional Office of the Government in La Rioja (1992-1996).
- Head of the Legal Service of the Ministry of the Presidency (1996-2000).
- Head of the Legal Service of the Ministry of Science and Technology (2000-2002).
- General Technical Secretary of the Ministry of Environment (2002-2004).
- General Technical Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs (2004-2006).
José Ignacio has extensive experience in advising on matters of public law. His experience has primarily been acquired in the areas of public procurement, concessions and property and assets of the Public Authorities and in the environmental, healthcare & social health and pharmaceutical sectors and in other sectors subject to regulation or specific government intervention.
