Experience

Carlos Lao García is Partner of the Capital Markets Practice. He has extensive experience advising issuers and listing companies in Spanish and international securities market transactions (144A/Reg. S) both in regulated markets and in multilateral trading systems, including flotations, listings, private placements, securities exchange offers, green bonds, high-yield bonds and promissory notes, etc. He has over 20 years of experience in the handling of these transactions before the various national and international regulatory bodies (CNMV, AIAF, MARF and SEC, etc.). In addition, he advises on regulatory matters relating to the securities market. During his career, he has also participated in national and international project finance transactions, M&A, takeover bids, financing transactions and other corporate finance structures.

Before joining Ramón y Cajal, he worked for several years at the New York and Paris offices of the US international law firm Shearman & Sterling.

He has been selected as a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” in Capital Markets by the prestigious international directory IFLR 1000 and a “Leading individual” in Capital Markets—Debt by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe.
